Saurin Nanavati

Director of Partner Relations, The Cosa

Saurin Nanavati has spent the past 12 years managing supply chains and international development programs across 15 countries formulating systems for farmers to access information, capital and markets.

Saurin specializes in designing and implementing Responsible Sourcing programs for multinational companies in the sectors of coffee, cocoa, cotton and tea. In his role as Director of Partnerships for the Committee on Sustainability Assessment (COSA), he communicates best practices in Sustainability Research, Agriculture Development and Supply Chains to support multiple stakeholders (companies, research institutions, NGOs, traders, lenders, certifiers, retailers, Producer Organizations and farmers) to consistently measure sustainability investments and coordinate their activities through a common set of indicators.

Prior to COSA, Mr. Nanavati served as Vice President of Root Capital and developed the organization’s Financial Advisory Services program, which delivers financial management training to accelerate access to finance targeting 200 smallholder producer organizations (representing 200,000 farmers) across Latin America and Africa.

Saurin earned his undergraduate degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and received an MBA, concentrating in Rural Economic Development, from the Monterey Institute of International Studies.

Saurin currently resides in Washington DC and in his spare time is an advisor for the MIT Legatum Center, the Alliance for Coffee Excellence and the Singing Rooster Haitian Coffee Company.
