ECOMICRO Facility Coordinator, MIF/IADB

Arantza is the coordinator of EcoMicro a technical cooperation facility that supports Microfinance institutions in the region expand their portfolio of climate finance products. Awarded by UNFCCC Light House Award, EcoMicro is one of the most innovative approaches to make green finance accessible to the most vulnerable. She is in charge of the design, coordination and supervision of a total portfolio of 12 projects. She has led the extension of the program until 2020 to push forward the Green Growth agenda of the Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF). She has crafted the green microfinance knowledge strategy engaging with the various actors in the ecosystem and she is contributing to the very first Green Microfinance Market Study done for the region.

Before working with the MIF Arantza negotiated debt and equity transactions at MicroVest Capital Management, a Fund Manager specialized in Microfinance. In her prior career, Arantza spent over 10 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Luxembourg and New York. As a senior manager at PWC, she managed and led audits of many of the larger financial institutions in the world. She holds a Master’s in International Public Policy from the Johns Hopkins University, School of Advanced International Studies and undergraduate degrees from Universidad de Deusto & E.M. Lyon in Spain and France.
